Hardware(Processors)
The New Prescott Pentium 4 processors will feature: 800MHz Quad Pumped Bus, 1MB of L2 cache,and Hyper-Threading II technology, the newcomer will also include additional instruction sets, known as PNI – Prescott New Instructions (SSE3 maybe) that are proposed to further accelerate processing of streams. In addition, sources indicated that there will be a number of different flavours of Prescott processors this year with core-clocks varying from 3.40GHz to 3.80GHz. Note, that in the latest Roadmap Update, Intel officially only indicated 3.40GHz Prescott processors by the year end and 3.60GHz and above CPUs in the first quarter 2004. So, either Intel is trying hard in order to roll-out its 3.80GHz chips by the end of 2003, or, the company simply looks through this opportunity at the moment, but no decisions have been made so far. However we should not expect the 3.80GHz Prescott products to come earlier than next year.

Seriously, now; 250 GB is a lot of hard drive space. But Western Digital hopes you'll find a need for that much storage when they release their WD Caviar 250 GB hard drive next month. The new drive is based on an 80 to 83 GB per platter technology, and it uses three platters. At this rate, who needs MP3 anymore? Why not just rip straight to .WAV? Or, even better, rip your CDs twice: once to .WAV for playing on your home machine, and once to MP3 for your portable.

::Consoles (X-Box)::
Back in college (1991), I wondered why no one had bothered to make a DOS-based game console. One day, in the back of a notebook, I made some notes about how you might go about creating a DOS-based game console. (I even called it an "X-Box", but really the "X" was there because I didn't know what else to call it. Microsoft's current "XBox" console is completely different, and I don't claim any rights to the "X-Box" name.) I've posted some scans of my notes, and a discussion about how you would create a DOS-based game console.
